The RIDGID 1390M Threaded Rod Cutter with 8 mm Blades is designed to effectively cut threaded rods used to hang pipes for air conditioning, sprinkler installations and other lightweight frames from the ceiling. The rod cutter makes fast, clean cuts without damaging the threads, resulting in ready-to-use rods. For ease of use, the cutting head on this metal rod cutter features a support that allows the tool to rest on a flat surface while levering a cut. Cuts are made by fully opening the handle, aligning the threaded rod in the cutting dies and closing the handle in one movement. To minimise the handle force required, the rod cutter actually cuts in two stages. The handle resistance decreases after the first step and increases again during the second stage.
