This handy, self-contained set of 200 mm (8 inch) rasps and files will meet all general needs for coarse shaping and finishing work on iron and steel.
The Silverline 9 piece file and rasp set contains:- three rasps: Flat, half-round and round Five files: Flat, half-round, round, triangular and square A file cleaning brush to keep the tools in good condition.
The tools are supplied in a nylon wallet for easy storage in the workshop or in the van.
Meeting a Wide Range of Needs
The flat file and rasp are suitable for general deburring and filing work on iron and steel, including filing of sharp corners and internal shoulders.
The half-round file and rasp, tapered toward the point in width and thickness, are designed for shaping curves and deburring, and filing of large holes and flat surfaces.
The round file and rasp, slightly tapered towards the point are suitable for the filing of concave surfaces, such as enlarging round holes or cutting a scalloped edge.
The triangular (or three square) file is designed for the filing of internal angles and flat surfaces and is suitable for smoothing acute angles less than 90 degrees.
The square file is suitable for smoothing the edges of rectangular holes.
Good Practice
When filing, the metal you are working on should be held firmly in a vice. Rest one hand on the tip of the file to keep it flat and steady and make slow, forward strokes using the whole length of the file.
