In 1929, the company Krupp began to develop a light, three-axle truck, which was urgently needed by the Reichswehr. There were different requirements for this that were to be met at Krupp. The ultimate goal: a standardization of vehicles and a certain off-road capability.
For the Reichswehr, the vehicle was an enrichment for the fleet and very popular with the troop. There were also some technical changes, such as the 4-cylinder boxer engine, which was also used in the Panzerkampfwagen 1; the logistical advantages are obvious.
