The lining has no PLA (plant plastic) which requires industrial composting at high temperatures. It has no PE (polyethylene) so these cups do not need specialist recycling to remove the plastic from the cardboard.
This is the most exciting thing to happen to paper cups in almost half a century! Once used, these can be recycled locally with your newspapers, or home composted in your compost heap. They will fully decompose on a standard compost heap – or in a landfill – in a maximum of 6 to 9 weeks leaving no residues.
