This wall mounted metal shelving system, originally designed in 1958 by Adrian Dekker for Tomado Holland, is typical of the 1950s modernist era and lacks any unnecessary detail, following a “less is more” approach to design. The minimal ornamentation emphasises only linear qualities and is made up of horizontal and vertical lines that allow form to follow function, an intention that once transformed the contemporary interior. The two vertical wall frames, also known as ‘ladders’, are powder coated and support three metal shelves, which can be positioned at various heights. Multiple Tomado shelving units can be added together to form a custom extended shelving system for longer walls and spaces. Modernism had its beginnings in Europe, where it became well known in Italy and Germany, the latter being home to the revolutionary Bauhaus School of Design. Product Dimensions: 70 x 21 x 68 cm. Brickwork screws and raw plug fixings are included.
