The Silica is reusable and can be reactivated and reused by placing the sand on a non-food use oven tray and baking them between 100 degrees C and 120 degrees C for 2 hours. alternatively Silica gel beads can also be reactivated by microwave for about 10-15 mins at DEFROST.
NOTE. The silica grains can contain odd specs and impurities as a result of the manufacturing process (unlike the beads the granular is not washed before packaging). See picture
