When animal and human wastes or soil fertilizers come into contact with water, they show up as nitrates and nitrites. There has been a 20 fold increase of the use of nitrogen fertilizers in the UK in the past 40 years. Nitrates and nitrites are especially harmful for the development of babies and young children and can be a cause of the potentially fatal Blue Baby Syndrome. Some experts recommend to test drinking water for nitrates if a baby is expected, during in the early months of a pregnancy, before bringing an infant home, and again during the first 6 months of the baby’s life. The ideal water test strips for water quality testing where portable, reliable results matter. The UK maximum contaminant levels for Nitrate is 50mg/l and for Nitrite is 0.50mg/l. Suitable for: any fresh water, including water from tap, well, pond, stream, lake, river designed to be safe, with no technical training required. Two versions are available depending on your detection needs: The first solution reports results and Nitrogen (N). The second solution, especially applicable for European markets, reports results as Nitrate or Nitrite (NO3 or NO2, respectively). Test procedure: Simply dip the test strip into your water sample for 2 seconds, remove, wait 1 minute for the colors to develop, and match to the closest color match. Accurate results have never been easier. The results can easily be converted to levels of NO2 and NO3. Contains: 50 test strips.
