The sundial and the compass are two completely different instruments, built for different purposes. The sundial is an instrument developed for a particular place on the Earth and installed there fixed on which the shadow of one of its parts, which indicates the hour of the day (during the sun and shadows). The compass is an instrument used for navigation. It includes a free-standing magnetized component that, when the level is maintained and still, itself is consistent with the magnetic field of the Earth and being in the north direction approximately. A sundial compass is a portable sundial attached via a compass via a hinge. There are some adjustable feet that the instrument must be used on level, if not on the level. The gnome is foldable and has to be placed in the upper position, where it snaps into place. It should be what looks like a transporter, which is on the right side of the gnome, which is at a hinge. On the needs are also folded up. The transporter is used to adjust the sundial at the correct width angle. The compass is the true north from magnetic north declining the area base. Once the device has been leveled, set to the correct width and true north only to observe the shadow that is poured from the gnome on the sundial face. For those in the southern hemisphere, everything is the same, unless you want to find true south instead.
